NEMO
(Hopeful, brave, trying to be confident)
I know everyone thinks I’m too small, or that I can’t handle things on my own. But I can. I want to explore, and I want to learn—even if I make mistakes. I get scared sometimes, sure… but that doesn’t mean I stop. Being brave doesn’t mean you’re not afraid. It means you keep swimming anyway.
SONG: That's My Dad
SONG: That's My Dad (INSTRUMENTAL)
TRANSPOSED (Down -1) SONG: That's My Dad (INSTRUMENTAL)
In case the song is too high for you, try this lowered track
TRANSPOSED (Down -2) SONG: That's My Dad (INSTRUMENTAL)
In case the song is too high for you, try this even lower track
DORY
(Bright, scattered, joyful — strong comedic timing)
Hi! Okay—so—sometimes I forget things. Like… a lot. But I always remember how to keep going. Even when things are confusing or scary, I just keep swimming. Because if you don’t give up, you always find something good. Or someone good. And that makes everything worth it!
SONG: Just Keep Swimming
SONG: Just Keep Swimming (INSTRUMENTAL)
MARLIN
(Protective, anxious, emotional)
I’m not trying to control everything—I’m trying to protect my son. The ocean is full of danger, and once something goes wrong, you can’t fix it. I know I worry too much. I know I hover. But that’s because loving someone means being afraid of losing them. And I don’t know how I’d survive that again.
SONG: Big Blue World
SONG: Big Blue World (INSTRUMENTAL)

CRUSH
(Laid-back surfer energy, confident)
Hey, little dude—relax. You can’t fight the current your whole life. You’ve gotta trust it. Let it carry you where you need to go. That’s how you grow. Protect your family, yeah—but let them take risks too. That’s how they learn to swim on their own.
SQUIRT
(Energetic, fearless, fun)
Dad! Did you see that?! That was amazing! I wasn’t scared—okay, maybe a tiny bit—but that’s what made it awesome! The ocean’s huge, and I want to see all of it. If you never try anything new, you’ll never find out what you can do!
BLOAT
(Big personality, comedic)
Okay, I know—I panic! But can you blame me? Things go wrong fast around here! One second everything’s calm, the next—total chaos! But I care, alright? I want this to work. I just need everyone to stay calm… so I don’t explode.
GILL
(Serious, intense, guarded)
Out there, no one hands you freedom—you earn it. You make a plan, you stick to it, and you don’t give up. I’ve been stuck long enough to know that hope hurts sometimes. But it’s also the only thing that keeps you going. And I’m not done trying.
PEACH
(Warm, nurturing, optimistic)
I believe things can change. Even when it feels impossible, someone has to believe it can get better. We take care of each other here—that’s how we survive. And if we stick together, I know we’ll find our way out.
NIGEL
(Confident, storyteller)
I’ve seen a lot in these waters, mate. Big fears, big dreams, and some very brave little fish. Sometimes all someone needs is a bit of belief—from themselves or from others. That’s how courage grows. And that’s how stories are made.
SMALL ROLES
ENSEMBLE / REEF KIDS / SEA CREATURES
(Playful, expressive)
The ocean is full of life! Fish dart, waves roll, and stories happen everywhere you look. You can’t just stand still—you’ve got to move, react, and be part of it. Every creature matters out here, and everyone has a role to play.
